Keeping kits stowed away and ready to go with the essential items we need when on holiday makes travel a lot easier, and enjoyable for me. Making checklists, and keeping them takes the stress out of trying to remember things. I tweak them and my kits according to the variables of our journey; method of travel, length of time, season, occasion, the destination and the type of accommodation.
When going away to relax, it is nice to have peace of mind that you have brought everything that is needed without bringing things that are not. Investigating what is provided at the lodging helps me keep a balance. Some vacation home rentals have everything for guests including coffee, while there are others that require you to bring your own linens….and personally, I drink my coffee with milk, so that needs to be on my list. Many hotels do not list a refrigerator, but if you inquire, several provide compact refrigerators free of charge.
I have learned to bring a few of the things that they might include but occasionally are out of when we arrive. They are not any trouble to bring along and I would not want to pay the exorbitant rate that some charge, or be stuck with too many extras to bring home.
